Disturbing Recording Captures Point Police Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
A ranking policeman who rushed to the help of a colleague that was assaulted by a blade-wielder has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Courage.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a weapon to the neck of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown began the violence as the officers and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a traffic accident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a electric weapon.
"Officer attacked," the constable was heard to say over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashcam footage released by the force revealed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon pointed forward.
He collided with the officer who stumbled and went down to the street, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and attempted to subdue him to the floor despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, bringing the struggle to an end.
Sgt Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide assistance on my throat now, I got knifed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his throat and more cuts to his limbs and torso, while Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities reported Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his colleague's bleeding before paramedics reached the scene.
This most recent award arrives subsequent to the three officers won internal Valor Recognitions in fall 2023 and the police federation award from the local officer association in early 2024.
They additionally received a North West Valor Recognition in summer 2024.
"The efforts of each policeman eventually rescued themselves and resulted in no members of the public endured any injuries."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, as stated by authorities.
