Homeland Security personnel have descended on the Democratic-run city as part of President Donald Trump's expanding operation on illegal immigration, according to authority reports.

The campaign, named "The Charlotte Initiative", was revealed on the weekend, with authorities stating that "undocumented criminals" would be the focus in the metropolitan region.

"We are surging Homeland Security personnel to the city to maintain public safety and eliminate security risks," a spokesperson commented.

Local officials, including Mayor of Charlotte Li Vyles, issued a collective announcement criticising the campaign, saying it was causing "unwarranted anxiety and confusion" in the resident base.

Tactical Approach

Armoured vehicles and elite units could be participating in the Charlotte area operation, according to official records.

A group from a local church performing maintenance at a local place of worship retreated to wooded areas when officers appeared, with a person being detained, according to reports.

"We thought church was safe and no incidents would occur," a teenage observer commented.

Since the administration's continuation, government agencies have been sent to multiple cities including key American cities to fulfill the commitment of "the largest deportation programme" in American history.

The Department of Homeland Security said they are implementing the initiative because the state has not complied with the around 1,400 ICE detainees, meaning they had been released due to "protective measures".
